Day 1

Arrive in Lima early evening. Met and transfer to your hotel.

One night at Miraflores Park Hotel, Lima, on a bed & breakfast basis

The Miraflores Park is owned and managed by Orient Express and surpasses all other hotels in Lima for pure indulgent, self absorbed relaxation and pampering.

The hotel is large and dominating from the outside but inside houses just 83 rooms and suites.

The Junior Suites are a honeymooners paradise or for those who want to lose themselves completely at the start or end of a trip to Peru. The suites have their own exclusive ‘Bath Butler’ who sets the scene of your choice; whilst you receive a half hour massage your bath is being prepared with oils, candles, and a choice of aperitif – champagne to cognac.

The suites have their own roman bathtub and sauna.

There’s an incredible open air rooftop pool overlooking the ocean, gym and spa.

Two restaurants and a bar.

Located in exclusive Miraflores right by the Pacific Ocean with incredible views there are also plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby and a park right opposite.

Room Facilities:  - Two phone lines,  Direct internet access,  29 inch colour TV with cable and VCR, Marble bathrooms with bathtub and separate shower,  In room mini bar,  In room safe, Air-conditioning,  24 hour room service,  Molton Brown amenities

Shared Facilities: Outdoor Swimming Pool, Gym, Zest Spa

Activities nearby: Shopping, restaurants, parks

To escape to verdict: Wonderful place to stay for all the right reasons but with only 5 bedrooms sometimes it’s hard to find space!

Day 2

Transfer back to the airport for the flight to Cusco. Met and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2 - Day 3

2 Nights at Monasterio, Cusco, on a bed & breakfast basis

The most famous, historic, unique and romantic place to stay in Cusco.  Originally built as a monastery in 1592 and now owned and managed by Orient Express housing 91 deluxe rooms and 12 junior suites. The Monasterio has many special features including oxygen-enriched rooms assisting guests with the effects of altitude (Cusco stands at over 3,000 metres above sea level), a private central courtyard, two restaurants and a bar.    Bath butler service also available which is perfect for those who’ve experienced some hardy trekking – a real reward! And very romantic for honeymooners. The Monasterio really is a living museum from the incredible artworks displayed on every wall to the splendid chapel and sympathetic conversion to luxury hotel without distracting from the   historical and religious roots. An unforgettable hotel experience.  Centrally located in Cusco just off the main plaza.

Room Facilities:  TV, climate control, most with views to the courtyard, safety box, telephone, 65 of the 91 rooms are enriched with oxygen to assist with acclimatisation

Activities nearby: Plaza de Armas, shops, restaurants, historic sites.

To escape to verdict:  The Monasterio will give you a completely memorable experience of this magical city. A very historic and atmospheric place to stay with trademark Orient Express impeccable service.

Cusco

All trips to Peru have to include Cusco. It’s the capital and gateway to the Inca Empire and a place to acclimatise before the Inca Trail. It’s a bustling Gringo town and a taste of the last frontier. You’ll truly feel you’ve arrived in Peru when you hit Cusco. The atmosphere is alive with the Quechua people, markets, textile shops, the smell of maize and potatoes, mothers with babies slung over their shoulders marching proudly with their black pillar box hats. Colonial cathedrals mix with ancient Inca fortress walls and narrow paved streets. Wander the markets, laze in a coffee shop, browse in a bookshop, be tempted by art galleries and spend hours soaking in the atmosphere.

Day 4

Train to Machu Picchu

Day 4 - Day 5

One night at Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge, Machu Picchu, on a full board basis

The ONLY hotel right beside the ruins in a completely privileged position. Owned and run by Orient Express and one of the most expensive hotels in the whole of South America due it’s enviable position. Just 29 rooms and 2 suites give the hotel an intimate atmosphere and the guests a remarkable    privileged visit of Machu Picchu after the tourists have got the last bus down the mountain and the first bus back up in the morning! For this it is worth the hefty room rate!

There are beautiful gardens to relax in with stunning views to Machu Picchu with a variety of plants and flowers including orchids.

The Sanctuary Lodge is a perfect reward for those who’ve just taken 4 days to trek to the magnificent ruins and there’s an in house masseuse for rubbing down all those aches and pains.

We would also highly recommend staying at the ruins as opposed to a day trip and if you’re going to do it properly it’s worth it for the privileged access to one of the new seven wonders of the world, no-one has ever been disappointed and the service is top class as one would expect from Orient Express.

Room Facilities:  TV, VCR, iPod docking station, mini-bar, option to dine in own room.

Activities nearby: Privileged access to the Machhu Picchu citadel after the crowds have left. It’s the only hotel at the ruins.

To escape to verdict:  Even though the hotel does have a hefty price tag visitors are NEVER disappointed. A one off treat at one of the world’s most remarkable ancient manmade structures.

Machu Picchu

It’s the must see site of Peru and will not disappoint. The best ways of arrival are from the 4 day Inca Trail Hike or waking up in comfort at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge and joining the trekkers before the day trippers. Machu Picchu is as awesome as you’d imagine but it’s also the incredible sheer mountain slopes and lush forests that set the stage for the most famous Inca Citadel in South America.

Day 5

Train and transfer to Sacred Valley

Day 5 - Day 7

3 Nights at Urubamba Villas, Sacred Valley, on a half board basis

Lake Titicaca

The highest navigable lake in the world. Lake Titicaca is almost like being on another planet! The lake sits on a high plateau with the Andes almost below it! It’s an incredible geological sight and another wonder of Peru. The town of Puno which serves the lake is not so attractive. A slow boat out to the islands of Amantani or Taquile makes for a fascinating day to visit the Quechua island communities and the Uros reed island people is a unique yet quite touristy experience. Lake Titicaca is a good place to stop en-route to Bolivia.

Day 12
